On Friday August 28th 2015 the championship game of the Mississauga Croatia Men’s Over 35 House League game was played at Father Kamber Park in Streetsville between Team Kupa and Team Plitvica. The game pitted the “Cinderella” team of the playoffs against last year’s defending champions of both the league and the playoffs. The “Cinderalla” team  – Team Plitvica – was led by Joe Sprajc and included the following players:

Mladen Depikolozvane, Adreil Brajkovic, Freddy Succi, Frank Valicek, Bopris Krsic, John Bukovcan, Johnny Zubac, Rick Baric, Walter Grabovac, Eddie Kontrec, Sami Al-Azawi and Zeljko Viduka.

Prior to the Championship finals,  Team Plitvica had knocked out two teams that were very strong all year  – Team Krka and Team Cetina. In fact Team Cetina – led by Mario Mandaric – were the 2015 League champs and had gone undefeated throughout the regular season. The members of Team Cetina included the following players:

Marijan Vranic, Robert Specic, Nick Tomac, Robert Zovic, Frank Augustin, Davor Medunic, Ivan Mandaric, Allan Schultz, Asen Shkumbov, Tom Radman, Stipe Mandic and Tony Marincic.

In the final game Team Plitvica and Team Kupa played to a 1-1 draw in regular time. After overtime could not settle the affair the teams resorted to penalty shots. Thanks to some great saves by  Team Kupa goalie Frank Ljubanovic during the penalty shoot out, Team Kupa won the final with a score of  2-1. Thus the 2015 Mississauga Croatia Men’s Over 35 House league champions  – for the second year in a row are Team Kupa – led by Michael Jezerinac. The members of the Championship Team Kupa team are as follows:

Frank Ljubanovic, Steve Zganjer, Mark Visic, Pero Mlinarevic, Marko Giljanovic, Emil Mesic, Tony Simic, Nick Draskovic, Alan Nemaric, Anton Jelic, Maurice Marnika, Dennis Koren.

Following the Championship game, Mississauga Croatia Executive treated the winners and all the members of the Men’s Over 35 House league with roast pig and beverages. In addition trophies were handed out to close off the successful year.

Golden Boot – Top goal scorers – tied with 14 goals apiece were Robert Specic (Team Cetina) and Stipe Mandic (Team Cetina).

Unsung Hero Award – the award to the player who best exemplifies the spirit of our House League – Dan Brdar (Team Kupcina).

Most Valuable Player for Team Kupa – Tony Simic
